Where can you get the IRS Innocent Spouse Form? For your convenience, I have uploaded the form to this website. You can download Form 8857 here. (Current as of 7/22/2014)
The IRS has made some recent changes to the “Request for Innocent Spouse Relief” form (notably adding an entire page for taxpayers to share with the IRS “Any other information you want us to consider.”) But the IRS hasn’t done enough. I have yet to submit an Innocent Spouse case to the IRS where I believed that the form served any real purpose. That’s because in order to win an Innocent Spouse case, you need to concentrate more on telling your story and focus less on filling in an IRS Checklist. You aren’t even required to provide most of the information they are asking for on the form!
